A weekend for everyone, regardless of golf skills, it is about reuniting with fellow Lakers and friends from years past with the common goal of supporting LSSU. The proceeds from the tournament go to helping LSSU students pursue their academic and athletic dreams. The Lake State Classic is a way for Lakers, family and friends to gather and celebrate being a part of the Laker experience.
Bud Cooper Classic
The annual Bud Cooper Memorial Golf Classic is held at Wild Bluff Golf Course. Proceeds help cover expenses related to the basketball team’s operations. Members of the team will be on-hand to meet with participants.
The Reverse Raffle is the premier fundraiser for Men’s Basketball. This event includes a social hour and dinner, followed by the reverse raffle. Tickets are $100 the winner has a chance walk away with $5,000. This event takes place in the beginning of each basketball season.
Women’s Walk is the marquee fundraiser for women’s athletics at Lake Superior State University. During the past eight years, over $350,000 has been raised to help elevate our teams and give them the means to compete at the NCAA Division II national level. Donations help offset the costs of equipment, increased travel expenses and improving the overall student-athlete experience.
The Soo Blue Liners was founded in 1982 for the specific purpose of supporting Laker Hockey. The organization provided team scholarships, team pictures, locker room decorations and other extras that the coaches desire. Since then, the Blue Liners have sponsored a variety of activities, including the Blue and White Game, post-game gatherings, bus trips to away games, cookie committee, 50/50 ticket sales, membership booth, Christmas party, golf tournament and the annual awards banquet. The Laker Club is the official support group for the entire Lake Superior State University athletics program, and contributions to Laker Club go toward scholarships for LSSU athletes..
