Thomas cruises as last chance meet, but doesn't move up in standings

HILLSDALE - Lake Superior State senior sprinter Oshane Thomas cruised to the fastest times in the men's 100 and 200-meter dashes at Hillsdale's Last Chance Meet Thursday, but failed to improve his potential to qualify for the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships.

Thomas clocked a :21.37 in the 200 and beat the next fastest competitor by nearly a half second. He also had the fastest 100-meter preliminary time of :10.75, but bypassed the finals in order to focus on the 200.

He is currently ranked 34th nationally in the 100 (:10.54), 37th in the 200 (:21.37). His conference championship time of :20.97 was wind-assisted and does not count for qualification purposes.

Thomas will compete in the 200 and 400-meter dashes Friday at Grand Valley State.
