Czuczman signs one-year contract with Pittsburgh

SAULT STE. MARIE – Kevin Czuczman, a defenseman at Lake Superior State from 2011-13, signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins last week.

Czuczman (Port Elgin, Ont.) joins former LSSU teammate Zach Trotman, who also signed a contract with the Penguins in July. Czuczman left LSSU following the 2013-14 season to sign with the New York Islanders and has played 13 NHL games. He played most of the last three seasons in the AHL with the Bridgeport Sound and Manitoba Moose. He was the Moose top-scoring defenseman in 2016-17 with 9-23—32.

Czuczman and Trotman played together at LSSU during the 2011-12 season.
