Men's Tennis Falls to Wayne State in Season Finale

DETROIT- The Lake Superior State men's tennis concluded its 2017-18 season Sunday falling to Wayne State, 8-1, on the road in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference matchup.

With the loss, the Lakers finish the season with a 7-9 record overall and a 2-6 conference record. The Warriors finish the regular season 13-10, 6-2 and will continue play in the GLIAC Tournament next weekend.

In doubles, No. 1 pairing, Ieuan Lister and Diego Penz lost, 8-3. No. 2 doubles, Jake Prime and Luis Valderrama claimed the lone point on the afternoon winning, 8-4. At No.3 doubles, Joe Gilman and Peter Summers lost, 8-3.

In the singles portion, No. 1 singles, Gilman lost (6-2, 6-3). No. 2 singles, Prime lost (6-4, 6-1), No. 3 singles, Luis Valderrama lost (6-3, 6-4).

Lister at No. 4 singles, lost (6-2, 6-4), at No. 5 singles, Penz lost in a tiebreaker (6-3, 7-6). Summers at No. 6 singles fell (6-3, 6-3).
