Position: Head Coach

Former Elmira College assistant coach Tom Linhart was named head coach of the Lake Superior State men's and women's tennis teams and director of intramurals in August, 2009.

In 2007-08 and 2008-09, Linhart ran off-season workouts and handled recruiting for the Elmira men's and women's tennis teams. He also worked as an assistant in the sports information office. One of Linhart's recruits became the Soaring Eagles' first Empire 8 Conference rookie of the year. In 2006-07, Linhart was the varsity girls coach and junior varsity boys coach at Spencerport (N.Y.) High School. He also has five years of experience as an assistant teaching professional at the Monroe Golf Club and the Thyroff Team Tennis Junior Development Program in Rochester, N.Y.

"I am extremely excited and ready for this opportunity," Linhart said. "The Laker tennis program has a history of success, and I look to bring that tradition back to a team that already possesses a lot of young talent and potential. I'm looking to bring a higher level of intensity to the program, which is needed in a tough conference where every match you need to be focused and on top of your game."

Linhart is 2006 graduate of St. John Fisher College, where he earned three All-Empire 8 Conference honors in doubles and two in singles. He earned a master's degree from Elmira in May, 2009.
