SAULT STE. MARIE- Lake Superior State women's basketball fell 65-57 at home on Wednesday (Nov. 23) night against Minnesota-Duluth.
The Lakers (1-5) took a 32-29 lead into the halftime break thanks to a made three pointer at the buzzer by freshman Claire Radtke. Radtke finished with nine points and two steals.
The teams entered the final 10-minute quarter, tied at 44, but the Bulldogs (1-2) were able to edge out LSSU down the stretch.
Mackenzie Edwards scored a team-high 13 points, grabbed five rebounds and added two steals. Sophomore center Rachel Novotny was the only other Laker to reach double digits in scoring, posting 11 points and picking up a double-double with 12 rebounds.
Sammy Kozlowski led the Bulldogs with a game-high 18 points.
The Lakers open conference play in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference next week, facing Ashland at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday (Dec. 1) and against Tiffin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday (Dec. 3).
