BIG RAPIDS, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) men's and women's cross country programs competed at the 2024 GLIAC Championships on Saturday.

Men
The LSSU men's team placed 8th as a team in the 8k with their top performer being Gavin Guggemos with a time of 25:59.7. Aaron Nachazel (East Jordan, Mich.) would be the next to finish for the Lakers with a time of 27:09.2 while his twin brother Ethan crossed the finish line only ten seconds later. Connor Rouse (Genesee, Mich.) would then complete the race with a time of 27:44.8, and Reese Camp (Highland, Mich.) and Ethan Meehle (Midland, Mich.) paced within five seconds of one another. Senior Roy Bowman (Jerome, Mich.) finished with a time of 28:48.8, and he was followed by Nathaniel Kilgore (Lansing, Mich.) and Brody Crandall with respective times of 28:5.1 and 29:13.9. Derrian Kumfer (Romeo, Mich.), Skylar Williams (Battle Creek, Mich.), and Elijah Sprague (Rudyard, Mich.) would then round out the lineup for the men's team with respective times of 29:40.2, 30:02.6, and 30:50.8.

Women
In the women's 6k, first-year runner Izzy Yeoman (Genesee, Mich.) placed first among her teammates with a time of 23:47.9 while Noel Black (Otsego, Minn.) was not far behind with a time of 24:04.3. Senior Sydney Kapushinski (Imlay City, Mich.) would then complete the race with a time of 25:08.3, and teammates Olivia Peter (Cass City, Mich.) and Madison Morgan were pacing approximately 30 seconds behind her. Sophomores Keira Lamming (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) and Sarah McDaniel (Manistique, Mich.) were the next to finish for the Lakers with respective times of 26:03.0 and 26:30.0. Jessa Davis (Birch Run, Mich.), Nora Smoes (Reed City, Mich.), and Grace Kreps (Goulais River, Ont.) would then cross the finish line within 15 seconds of one another, and the pair of Kara Mosher (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.) and Olivia Stevens (Grand Haven, Mich.) rounded out the lineup for the women's team with respective times of 29:06.7 and 29:18.5.
The Lakers will now turn their attention to the 2024 Midwest Regional Championship in Romeoville, Ill. on Saturday, Nov. 9.
