Laker swimmers set six school records while competing in three events at the first day of the Don Kimble Invitational on Friday.
Hosted by Davenport University, the invitational continues through Sunday. But the Lakers enjoyed a successful opening day of competition, led by
Fedor Mironov's performance in the men's 200 yard freestyle relay. Mironov broke the program's best mark for the 50-yard leg with a time of 20.39. Together with his teammates
Lucas Bradley,
Mitar Sarkovic and
Adyn Stoddard, the group set a program record in the event with a final time of 1:25.78.
Then
Andrea Ayuso Mendez swam a terrific 1650 yard freestyle, setting new Lake Superior State bests at 500 and 1,000 yards, as well as a final time of 18:14.53. She finished eighth out of 19 swimmers and continues a tremendous first season at LSSU that began with four new records at Northern Michigan on October 4th. The Biochemistry major from Cartagena, Spain had broken six school-best marks already this campaign.
But the Lakers weren't quite done yet. The 400 yard medley relay team set a new program record at 3:30.93.

Dimitrij Mijailovic, Mironov, and Sarkovic teamed for program's best mark in the event.
