SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. – Lake Superior State men's cross country student-athlete David Mitter has been named the Madigan/Pingatore Insurance Athlete of the Week, as announced by the Lake Superior State athletic department on Monday, Oct. 28.
Mitter, a junior distance runner from Howell, Mich., finished 10th overall in the 2019 GLIAC Men's Cross Country Championships with a time of 24:37.9 in the 8,000-meter distance on Saturday, Oct. 26 in Westville, Ind. As a result of his top-ten finish, Mitter was named to the 2019 First Team All-GLIAC Men's Cross Country Team, which he has been named to in consecutive years.
Mitter's time of 24:37.9 stands as a new collegiate personal record for the Mechanical Engineering major, who took almost 40 seconds off of his previous personal record (25:16.6 @ 2018 GLIAC Cross Country Championships).

Mitter and the rest of the Laker cross country runners will look to continue their success on Saturday, Nov. 9 when the student-athletes are set to take part in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Cross Country Championships at Angel Mounds in Evansville, Ind.
