SAULT STE. MARIE - Thrower Hans Riedel, and sprinters Amanda
Garcia and Ben Monroe were double winners for the Lake Superior
State track and field team during the Lakers' annual Blue-Gold
Meet, which was held Saturday at the Arbuckle Student Activity
Center.
Riedel won the men's shot put and weight throw, while Garcia
took the women's 55-meter dash and 55-meter hurdles. Monroe
won the men's 55 and 300-meter dashes.
LSSU held competitive events in the indoor long jump for the
first time in school history. Sarah Gallagher placed first for the
women's squad, while Riley Lytwynec and Ben Charbonneau tied for
first for the men.
Other individual winners among the LSSU women's team were
Courtney Gaskell (300-meter dash), Julia Van De Kirkhove (600-meter
dash), Jamie Wick (1,000-meter run), Kelsey Lewis (3,000-meter
run), Katie Winiarski (high jump), Amanda Calhoun (shot put),
Kimberlee Booms (weight throw).
Men's single event winners were Patrick Wright (600-meter run),
Jeff Kuhl (1,000-meter run), Jake Hoover (3,000-meter run), John
Preczewski (55-meter hurdles) and Jeremy Braman (high
jump).
