Box Score PITTSBURGH, Pa.- Lake Superior State suffered its second
consecutive road loss of the season, falling 3-0 Saturday at Robert
Morris. The Lakers (0-4-0, 0-2-0 WCHA) were held scoreless by
goaltender Dalton Izyck of the Colonials (2-0-0, 0-0-0 AHA).
The teams skated through the first period without exchanging any
goals
Gordon Defiel was once again named LSSU's starting
goaltender, squaring off against Izyck. Robert Morris capitalized
late in the second period and notched the goal that put the
Colonials ahead for the remainder of the game. Scott Jacklin's
second goal of the series was scored with just 1:14 remaining in
the second period.
An early goal in the third period by Cody Wydo (5:33) put the
Colonials up by two before David Friedmann gave Robert Morris its
third goal on a power play with 5:08 remaining in the game.
Defiel turned away 37 shots in the effort and kept the Lakers in
the game throughout much of the competition.
The Lakers went 0-4 on the power play, while Robert Morris
converted 2-of-7 chances.
The Lakers play next weekend at Notre Dame against former Laker
head coach Jeff Jackson for a two game non-conference tilt.
Jackson's 1994 Laker team will be inducted into the LSSU Sports
Hall of Fame Oct. 25.
