SAULT STE. MARIE – Twenty-five Lake Superior State spring sport student-athletes, headed by softball players Emily Estep and Taylor Steinhelper, received Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic recognition in 2015.
Estep (Onaway, Mich.), with a 3.952 grade point average in biology, had the program's top GPA, while Steinhelper (Waterford, Mich.), with a 3.950 GPA in exercise science, was a close second. LSSU's top senior spring sport student-athlete was distance runner Jessica Allen (Southfield, Mich.) with a 3.80 GPA in parks and recreation management.

Sophomore Carly Banchiu (Waterford, Mich.) also represented LSSU softball on the GLIAC Academic Excellence list, which include student-athletes with GPAs of 3.5 or higher. LSSU track and field student-athletes on the academic excellence list included seniors Cody Carena (Temperance, Mich.) and Carolinne Strasser (Westland, Mich), and juniors Nolin Livingston (Sand Creek, Mich.), Ben Deuling (Muskegon, Mich.), Oshane Thomas (St. Thomas, Jamaica) and Miranda Emaus (Hudsonville, Mich.). Golfers Joe Ericson (Utica, Mich.) and Megan Henry (Novi, Mich.) also made the list.
Six softball players received GLIAC All-Academic honors, which are awarded to student-athletes with GPAs of 3.0 or higher. They included seniors Brandi Anderson (Negaunee, Mich.), Amanda Maxon (Munising, Mich.), Alyssa Avila (Los Angeles, Cal.) and Allison Traczyk (Murietta, Cal.), junior Alyssa Boucher (Canton, Mich.) and sophomore Chantel Olschanski (Howell, Mich.).
Track and field all-academic honorees included seniors Anthony Silva (Crystal Falls, Mich.) and Robert Gallinger (St. Joseph Island, Ont.), juniors Adam Birkeland (Rockford, Mich.) and Rebecka Knox (Plymouth, Mich.), and sophomores Ryan Rogers (Clinton, Mich.) and Hannah Passino (Indian River, Mich.). Sophomore Alex Tuchowski (Kingsford, Mich.) represented men's tennis.
