Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State volleyball fell to the Findlay Oilers 3-0 on Friday evening. The Lakers hosted the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Conference rival Oilers in front of an enrgetic crowd of 328 people in the Cooper Gymnasium.
The Oilers (8-3, 2-1 GLIAC) defeated the Lakers (0-8, 0-4 GLIAC) in straight sets 25-12, 25-12, 25-17.
Janelle Nagy collected a team-high seven kills for the Lakers and also added five assists. Nagy also collected a solo block and a pair of block assists.
Logan Hutek led the Lakers with eight assists and Justice Kjolhede paced the Lakers with six digs.
Senior Sydne McMullen added a team-high three block assists.
Sophomore Morgan Koziarz, after not appearing in the last weekend's match against Northwood, entered the match for the first time and opened the second set with a sting of points for the Lakers. Koziarz notched a pair of service aces on her first and third serves and the Lakers scored on a set-error following her second serve to open the second frame.
Hannah Tong led the Oilers to the decisive victory with 10 kills and four service aces. Hailee Olsen collected a match-high 34 assists to lead the Oilers.
The Lakers will cap their weekend home stand on Saturday with a 2 p.m. match against Hillsdale College.
