ALLENDALE, Mich.—The Lake Superior State men's and women's track & field team traveled to Grand Valley on Saturday to take part in the annual GVSU Big Meet inside the Kelly Family Sports Center.

Competing in a field of more than 60 schools spanning from the Division I to Division III levels, the Lakers took home four top-15 finishes on the day.

Freshman David Mitter took home the Lakers highest mark on the day clocking an 8:42.33 in the men's 3K to finish sixth out of a 47-man field.

Teammate Garrett Smith also placed in the top-10 in the same event. Smith, a junior, posted an 8:48.34 to finish ninth.

Junior Cole VanOosten posted the top mark among throwers for Lake Superior placing 13th in the men's weight throw with a 15.76m mark.

On the women's side, freshman Ashley Mullings tied for 11th place in the women's long jump with a 5.19m mark.

The Lakers will return to competition next Saturday (Feb.17) as the compete in the Hillsdale Tune Up in their final meet before the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships (Feb.24-25).
