LSSU Track & Field Notches Seven Top-10 Finishes at Hillsdale Tune Up

HILLSDLAE, Mich.—The Lake Superior State men's and women's track & field team traveled to Hillsdale College on Saturday to compete in the Hillsdale Tune Up inside the Margo V. Bierman Athletic Center.

In their final meet before the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Championships (Feb.24-25), the Lakers came home with seven top-10 finishes on the afternoon.

Junior Cole VanOosten took home the Lakers highest finish taking second-place in the men's weight throw with a 16.1-meter mark.

Roger Wilford took third in the men's pole vault with a 4.31-meter mark and freshman David Mitter finished in sixth place in the men's 1-mile clocking a 4:31.55.

Freshman Ashley Mullings recorded the top finish for the Laker women notching a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a 5.34-meter mark. Sara Ostwald placed 10th in the weight throw (12.09-meters).

Trudie Mulville placed sixth in the 5000-meter (20:32.78) while Rebecca Lathrup came away with a ninth place finish in the women's 1-mile run (5:47.20).

This weekend's GLIAC Championship will take place at GVSU's Kelly Family Sports Center with start times slated for 9 a.m. on both days
