GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.— Competing at the Calvin College Tune Up over the weekend, the Lake Superior State men's and women's track & field team took home four first-place finishes in its final meet before the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships next week.
On the men's side, junior Jack Miles took first in the 3000m clocking a 9:24.03 and freshman David Mitter came away with the top spot in the 1500m with a 4:12.52 to lead the Lakers on the track. Garrett Smith came in right behind Mitter in the 1500m with a 4:13.66 to take second.
In field events, Roger Wilford placed first in the pole vault with a 4.42m mark and Kye Heimonen placed second in the javelin with a 44.76m toss.
On the women's side, freshman Ashley Mullings notched the top mark in the long jump with a 5.35m mark. Teammate Sarah Swider took fourth with a 5.07m jump.
In women's high jump, Riley Collins recorded 1.60m jump to place third. Senior Trudie Mulville led the LSSU women on the track clocking a 11:22.90 mark in the 3000m to place third.
Next week's GLIAC Outdoor Championships are scheduled for May 2-4 at Ashland University.
