SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - The Lake Superior State (LSSU) men's cross country program has been projected to finish tenth (19 pts) in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, as voted on by the league's head coaches.
The Lakers will rely on their core of experienced seniors to lead the way, headlined by last season's top runner for LSSU,
Sydney Kapushinski (Imlay City, Mich.). Alongside Kapushinski, fellow seniors,
Katelyn Moore (Grayling, Mich.),
Kara Mosher (Sault Ste. Marie, Mich.),
Gwen Phillips (Cadillac, Mich.), and
Olivia Stevens (Grand Haven, Mich.) will be expected to continue to lead a talented batch of eight underclassmen, including four first-year freshmen as well as sophomores
Keira Lamming (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.),
Sarah McDaniel (Manistique, Mich.),
Olivia Peter (Cass City, Mich.), and
Nora Smoes (Reed City, Mich.).
The Lakers open the 2024 campaign on Friday, Sept. 13 when they travel to Detroit for the Warrior Challenge at Willow Metropark. Â
