Purdue Northwest Pride
The Lakers came away with a 7-0 sweep over the Pride of Purdue Northwest on Friday, starting with default victories at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles due to PNW only having five players available on the day.
LSSU wasted no time securing the doubles point as Tayla Brasier (Bathurst, Australia) and Trinity Ly (Brampton, Ont.) raced to a 6-0 win in the No. 2 double match to extend the team lead to 2-0. Meanwhile, Maddie Whip (Sydney, Australia) and Valentina Parodi (Albissola Marina, Italy) completed the doubles sweep with a 6-2 win in the top doubles match.
In singles play, Ly earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory at the No. 4 spot to push the Pride to the brink, and Whip clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-0 win at the top of the lineup. Brasier and Parodi would then push the team lead to 6-0 with respective wins of 6-2, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-4 at the No. 2 and No. 4 spots. Then, in what would prove to be the most competitive match of the day, Kyna Decruy (Melbourne, Australia) was able to lock in to win via a super-tiebreaker after rattling off the last four-consecutive points of the match to complete the 7-0 sweep for her team.

Roosevelt Lakers
LSSU would once again begin their match ahead 1-0 with default victories at No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles due to Roosevelt only having five players available.
Lake Superior State would then secure the doubles point, sweeping the remaining two matches with Whip/Parodi and Brasier/Ly claiming respective wins of 6-2 and 6-3.
Whip quickly extended the team lead to 3-0 in singles play, taking her first set 6-2 before her match was cut short due to her opponent retiring because of an injury. Brasier would then clinch the match without dropping a single game on her way to a 6-0, 6-0 victory in the No. 2 match. Parodi and Ly would then extend the team lead to 6-0 with respective wins of 6-1, 6-0 and 6-2, 6-1 at the No. 3 and No. 4 spots. RU was ultimately able to avoid the sweep by claiming a hard-fought win by a narrow margin of 7-6, 6-4 against Martina Oviedo (Cordoba, Argentina), but it was LSSU that had the final laugh with a dominant 6-1 win on the day as a team.Â
LSSU will now turn their attention to a matchup against the Wayne State Warriors on Friday, April 4 with the first serve scheduled for 2 p.m.
