Adam Thompson joined Lake Superior State as Senior Associate Athletic Director for External Relations and Revenue Generation in September 2026 after more than three years at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Adam brings a strong business and financial background to LSSU's Athletics Department. He takes charge of the program's expanding financial operations, including revenue generation, budget management and strategic planning.

Thompson previously served as Director of Business Operations at UW-Milwaukee and promoted to Assistant Athletic Director for Business Operations, where he served as a member of their Senior Leadership team. He previously worked at Brown University as the Assistant Business Office Manager, where he helped manage the day-to-day business operations of 34 athletic teams.

Adam earned a Masters of Business Administration in Strategic Leadership from Cleary University, where he worked as an athletics graduate assistant. He played a key role as editor of the year-end report for NAIA, compiling financial aid, compliance and roster information. Prior to his time at Cleary, Adam earned his Bachelor of Arts in Finance from Michigan State University in May 2020, where he was an Administrative Assistant in the Athletics Business Office.

A driven professional on the rise, Adam brings tremendous experience to Lake Superior State during a time of transformation for the Athletics department and University as a whole. A native of Saint Johns, Michigan, he resides in Sault Ste. Marie, MI.
