Chelsea Cooke-Tripp joined Lake Superior State as Volleyball Head Coach in February 2026. The Norton Shores, MI native brings a track record of program growth and success to Sault Ste. Marie.
She served as Assistant Coach at NCAA Division II Adams State from 2023 to 2026 prior to her arrival at LSSU. Cooke-Tripp coached three RMAC All-Conference players in 2023, again in 2024, and 2025 AVCA All-American selection Hadleigh Richardson. Cooke-Tripp worked as Director of Recruiting during her time in Alamosa, CO, and was the Camp Director in 2024 and 2025. Adams State hosted one of the largest summer camps in the country. The Grizzlies saw their winning percentage jump from .308 to .500 during her time with the program.
Prior to her tenure in Colorado, Cooke-Tripp spent three years at NCAA Division III Marietta College in Marietta, OH. In 2022, the Pioneers had four OAC All-Conference selections and Maggie Fellers, who earned All-American Honorable Mention honors. The program also had four OAC All-Conference players in 2021. During Cooke-Tripp’s tenure, 13 student-athletes earned OAC All-Academic Honor Roll honors. She also worked as Director of Recruiting and Camp Director. The Pioneers saw their winning percentage leap from .389 to .678.
A four-year player who was never substituted out at Glenville State University (then Glenville State College) in West Virginia, Cooke-Tripp was a consistent, reliable presence in the lineup. She also competed in three events across three seasons of Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field.
After finishing her playing career, Cooke-Tripp earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ferris State University in 2013. She moved into the collegiate coaching ranks in 2018 as a Graduate Assistant at Clemson University, where she earned her master’s degree in athletic leadership in 2019.
As a high school volleyball player, Cooke-Tripp set a school record with eight service aces in a match at Mona Shores High School and earned All-State Honorable Mention honors as a junior and senior.
Cooke-Tripp’s strategic vision for LSSU’s volleyball team is built on three “C’s.” Consistency, Communication and Care. Her attention to detail in coaching, recruitment and academics stand out as testament to her dedication and drive.
