Mike Brown joined Women's Basketball Head Coach Grace Howrigon's staff at Lake Superior State as Assistant Coach in July 2026. With a proven background of student-athlete development at the collegiate level, he brings an exciting resume to Sault Ste. Marie.

Brown spent the 2025-26 season at Lamar University as Player Development Coach. The team won 20 games and secured the #2 seed in the Southland Conference Tournament and a spot in the WNIT Tournament. In the 2024-25 season, Brown worked as an Assistant Coach at North American University, where he designed the program's speed, agility, strength and conditioning program. The Men's Basketball team won 22 games en route to the USCAA National Championship.

As Head Coach and Director of Basketball Operations for HF Elite & FOE Sports Academy from 2020 to 2025, Mike coached on the Nike EYBL Circuit, achieving a #12 national ranking. He recruited over 200 male and female athletes and managed the behind-the-scenes details for the program's teams. He also worked at the Hamshire-Fannett ISD as a coach and special education teacher.

During his coaching career, Mike has worked with NBA, WNBA, overseas and collegiate athletes, developing 18 1,000+ point scorers and six who scored more than 2,000 points.

Mike graduated from William Carey University, where he played basketball for Steve Knight, who holds the record for most victories in the state of Mississippi. The Crusaders won an SSAC Conference Championship and appeared in the NAIA Final Four. Brown holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Marketing & Management.
