ST. CLOUD, Minn. - St. Cloud State dominated the second half of Saturday's non-conference women's basketball game to pull away to an 83-53 win in front of 1,437 fans on its home court.
After leading 36-29 at halftime, SCSU (6-6) shot 51.5 percent from the field during the second half and held LSSU (4-7) to six second-half field goals. The Lakers struggled from three-point range, finishing 0-for-16.
Most of LSSU scoring occurred in the post as Alyssa VanderWal led LSSU with 12 points and eight rebounds. Jackie Armstrong finished with eight points, while Emily Jospeh had seven and Danielle Makins six.
Talisha Barlow scored 24 points to lead four SCSU players in double figures. St. Cloud State shot 46.8 percent from the field for the game, made 21-of-25 free throws and led 39-33 on the boards.
LSSU shot 35.4 percent from the field and made 19-of-28 free throws.
The Lakers resume play Dec. 29 at the Northwood Tournament. They play Bellarmine at 1 p.m.
