Lakers fall to Wayne State

DETROIT - Two players scored more than 20 points and two had double doubles for the Wayne State men's basketball team during Saturday's 82-67 victory over Lake Superior State on Saturday in the Matthaei Building.

WSU's Wynn Sarden totaled 26 points and 10 rebounds, Lorenzo McClelland totaled 23 points, and Jason Saddler added 11 points and 12 rebounds to lead the Warriors (9-5 overall, 3-3 Great Lakes Inter Collegiate Athletic Conference).

Scott Perkins, Tim VanOudheusden and Ryan Kuhl led LSSU (4-10 overall, 3-6 GLIAC) with 15 points each. Kuhl also totaled six rebounds and three steals, and VanOudheusden had five rebounds.

WSU pulled away from a 42-42 halftime tie. The Warriors, who scored 19 second-chance points, out-rebounded LSSU, 41-25. They shot 50 percent from the field, including 3-of-11 from three-point range. They made 15-of-23 free throws.

LSSU shot 45.8 percent from the field, including 11-of-24 from three-point range. The Lakers made 12-of-18 free throws.

Lake Superior State travels to Findlay on Saturday, Jan. 19.
