ALLENDALE - Fourth-ranked Grand Valley State
defeated Lake Superior State 25-16, 25-19, 25-14 to tie GVSU school
records of 22 straight volleyball wins and 30 straight home
victories.
GVSU improved to 25-2 overall and 14-0 in the Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. LSSU fell to 6-17 overall and
2-13 in the GLIAC.
Sara Hess and Ali Jones totaled six kills each to lead Lake
Superior State attackers. Janelle Balkwill totaled 11 assists, and
Brittany Newberry had 15 digs.
Danielle Alexander led GVSU with 15 kills, one solo block and
two block assists.
LSSU plays its final match of the 2008-09 season on its home
court at 4 p.m. Friday against Saginaw Valley State.
