SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State's
two-match home win streak came to an end Friday as Ferris State
defeated the Lakers, 25-16, 25-16, 25-23, in a Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball showdown.
Both teams are 2-4 in the league heading into Saturday's
matches, which includes LSSU's matchup with ninth-ranked Grand
Valley State at 2 p.m. in Bud Cooper Gymnasium.
Abby Shereda totaled eight kills to lead LSSU (3-7 overall)
against the Bulldogs. Ashley Purvis finished with 21 assists. Holly
Orban led in digs with 11, and Brittany Newberry followed with 10.
Ferris State improved to 8-7 overall.
