MARQUETTE - Lake Superior State lost 3-1 at Michigan Tech on
Friday and fell 3-2 at Northern Michigan Saturday in Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball action in the Upper
Peninsula.
Sara Hess, Jessica Ewer and Abby Shereda totaled 10 kills each,
and Jeanna Radzinski added eight in the
Lakers' 25-23, 26-28, 23-25, 25-16, 15-11 loss at NMU (16-8
overall, 10-3 GLIAC). Hess and Radzinski also combined to total 5
1/2 blocks. Janelle Balkwill finished with 23 assists, and Brittany
Newberry totaled 36 digs, which ties her season high. Ewer added 13
digs.
Hess and Shereda also compiled 10 kills each, and Nikki
Stratelak had eight at MTU (12-11 overall, 8-4 GLIAC), which won
Friday's match, 25-23, 25-20, 23-25, 25-20. Balkwill totaled 20
assists, and Brandiss Ward added 15. Newberry finished with 25
digs. Radzinski led the Lakers in blocks with two solos and one
assist.
The Lakers dropped to 3-21 overall and 2-11 in the GLIAC.
