Box Score HILLSDALE - Opportunities slipped away for the Lake Superior
State men's basketball team, which lost 77-74 in overtime at
Hillsdale Saturday.
The Lakers (11-8 overall, 9-5 Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference) led by four points, 66-62, when Micah Hudson
hit a three-pointer with 2:10 remaining in regulation. The Lakers
also led 74-73 with 47 seconds left in overtime after Kyle Hunt
made the first of two free throws.
Hillsdale (7-11 overall, 7-7 GLIAC) reclaimed a one-point lead,
75-74, when Luke Laser made two free throws with 20 seconds to
go. LSSU missed a three-point attempt with nine seconds left, and
the Chargers' Brent Eaton made a layup as time expired.
Hillsdale led 34-31 at halftime and was up by as many as six
points midway through the second half. Eaton was 7-of-12 from
behind the arc and finished with 25 points to lead the Chargers. HC
shot 42.4 percent from the field, including 12-of-30 from
three-point range. The Chargers made 9-of-15 free throws.
Hunt totaled 21 points, 12 rebounds and four assists to
lead LSSU. Hudson finished with 13 points, followed by Garrett
Konuszewski with 12 and Andrew Charlesworth with 10. LSSU scoring
leader Scott Perkins, who played only 27 minutes, was limited
to six points.
Lake Superior State, which is tied for third in the GLIAC North
Division with Saginaw Valley State, shot 44.4 percent from the
field, including 8-of-21 from three-point range. The Lakers made
18-of-25 free throws and dominated the boards, 42-33.
