Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State will join the rest of the
Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference in "Dig Pink" and
the fight against breast cancer.
The Lakers, who are playing their final homestand this weekend,
will wear pink warm-up shirts, give out pink ribbons and
opportunities to win special prizes, and collect
donations during Friday's match against Michigan Tech, which
begins at 7 p.m. in Cooper Gymnasium. The first 75 spectators to
arrive will receive the pink ribbons and the Lakers' "Fight" team
photo. Proceeds will go toward the GLIAC Pink Wave initiative.
According to LSSU coach Mark Engle, breast cancer has profoundly
impacted players on his team, and the Lakers look forward to
playing a role in promoting awareness of the disease.
LSSU also plays host to Northern Michigan at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The drawing for the 42-inch plasma television will take place
midway through the match.
