Box Score KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Lake Superior State split with Western
Michigan (8-6-4 overall, 4-5-3-2 Central Collegiate Hockey
Association) during its last conference game of 2010. The Broncos
defeated LSSU 4-1 Saturday to salvage a series split.
The Lakers ended the first half of the season with a record of
6-10-4 overall and 4-7-3-2 in the CCHA.
After a scoreless first period, LSSU netted the lone goal of the
second period at 6:02. LSSU's goal was scored by sophomore
forward Nick McParland from senior forward Rick Schofield.
WMU tied the game at 5:06 of the third with an extra attacker
during a delayed penalty call. Mike Levendusky netted the goal for
the Broncos. The Broncos came on strong with three more unanswered
goals in the third period.
Western Michigan's game-winning goal came from Matt
Tennyson at 5:27 of the third period. LSSU was two men down.
The Lakers were 0-for-6 during the power-play, while the Broncos
were 2-for-5.
Freshman goaltender Kevin Kapalka made 35 saves for Lake
Superior State. Western Michigan's Jerry Kuhn totaled 28
saves.
