Collegiate Hockey Association) dropped its first game of this
weekend's hockey series with No. 1-ranked Miami
(19-4-6, 16-1-4-2 CCHA), 2-0, Friday at Cady Arena.
Miami (19-4-6 overall, 16-1-4-2 CCHA), which extended its CCHA
unbeaten streak to 19 games (15-0-4) scored its first goal at
19:51 in the first period. Carter Camper netted the RedHawks'
game-winner from points leader Tommy Wingels.
After a scoreless second period, Miami added an empty-net goal
with one second left in the game. Andy Miele scored the
empty-netter from Jarod Palmer and Reilly Smith.
LSSU was unable to capitalize on the power-play, going 0-for-4
for the night. The Lakers held off Miami to 0-for-5 on the
power-play.
Junior goaltender Brian Mahoney-Wilson stopped 30 shots. Miami's
Cody Reichard stopped a total of 27 shots for the RedHawks, who
lead the nation in scoring defense and have shut out eight
opponents this season.
The Lakers will be back in action against the RedHawks Feb. 6 at
7:05.
