TORONTO – Lake Superior State continued to dominate
Canadian universities with a 3-0 victory over Ryerson University
Wednesday. LSSU is now 4-0 during the tour, which concludes
Thursday at York.
Both teams started off with a scoreless first period. Sophomore
forward Ben Power started LSSU's scoring with an unassisted
goal at 8:43 of the second period.
The Lakers added two unanswered goals by freshman
defenseman Zach Sternberg in the third period. Assists
went to Rich Schofield and Colin Campbell.
Freshman goaltender Kevin Kapalka made 16 saves for the night
and was credited with the shutout. Kapalka also received Rookie of
the Month honorable mention in the CCHA for the month of December.
The Lakers totaled 27 shots on goal.
The Lakers play their final exhibition game at 7 p.m. at
York. LSSU heads back to the Taffy Abel arena to face Michigan
State Jan. 14-15 at 7:05 p.m.
