Lakers finish with a split

BEMIDJI, Minn. - Lake Superior State dropped game two against Bemidji State 5-0 Saturday. The Lakers are 2-2-0 overall heading into their Central Collegiate Hockey Association opener against Michigan State Oct. 26-27 at the Taffy Able Arena.

At the end of two periods of play the Lakers were down 2-0 to the Beavers (1-1-0). BSU scored two goals 54 seconds apart during the third period at 7:01 and 7:55. With a 1:55 left in the third Bemidji State scored its final goal of the game.

Radoslav Illo led BSU with a goal and an assist as all four lines scored a goal for the Beavers.

Junior goalie Kevin Kapalka (2-2-0) made 24 saves for the Lakers, who posted a 2-0 shutout win Friday and split the series. Andrew Walsh stopped 25 shots to earn the shutout for the Beavers.

LSSU finished 0-for-2 on the power play and held BSU to 0-for-4.
