Superior State took off to a 2-0 lead in a Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball contest but wound up
with a 3-2 loss.
Saturday, Malone came back from a 2-0 deficit to beat LSSU,
20-25, 24-26, 25-19, 25-19, 15-9. The Lakers dropped to 1-3 in
five-set matches, while Malone improved to 4-2.
Emily Snyder and Nikki Stratelak totaled 13 kills each, and Gaby
Olsen added 11 to lead LSSU (4-18 overall, 1-10 GLIAC). MaryLou
Drobish totaled 34 assists, while Katie Fitzpatrick had 11. Meghan
Drobish contributed 22 digs, followed by Fitzpatrick with 10.
Olsen also had three solo blocks. However, the Pioneers compiled
11 team blocks to the Lakers' five.
Taylor Slauterbeck led Malone (12-8 overall, 6-5
GLIAC) with 14 kills, while Lauren Townley had three solo
blocks and three block assists.
LSSU plays at Northwood on Oct. 26.
