Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE - An Alabama-Huntsville hockey team playing in
its ninth straight road game showed no signs of road weariness
during Friday's 2-1 victory over Lake Superior State.
The Chargers (1-9-1) were out-shot 36-22, but quieted LSSU's
second-period heroics and kept pace with the Lakers
(5-6-0) during the third period.
LSSU sophomore Kelin Ainsworth forced a turnover in UAH's zone
and scored an unassisted goal at 15:39 of the second period for a
1-0 Laker lead. It was Ainsworth's first collegiate goal.
Alabama-Huntsville took advantage of LSSU's inability to clear
its zone and answered with a four-on-four goal by Justin
Cseter at 18:22 of the second period, tying the game 1-1. Kyle
Lysaght tallied the game-winner at 10:53 of the third period.
Lake Superior State finished 0-for-4 on the power play, while
UAH was 0-for-3. LSSU goaltender Kevin Murdock dropped to 3-4-0
after totaling 20 saves and taking the loss. John Griggs
(1-8-1) was the winning goalie with 35 saves.
LSSU and UAH meet at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at Taffy Abel Arena.
Active-duty servicemen and veterans who can show proof of
