Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE - No. 25 Ferris State fended off one of Lake
Superior State's strongest attacks of the season to win Friday's
Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference volleyball match,
25-20, 25-22, 25-22.
FSU (20-6 overall, 13-2 GLIAC) totaled 51 kills and a .312
attack percentage to LSSU's 41 kills and .206 attack rate as both
teams swung hard at each other throughout the match. Emily
Snyder led the Lakers (4-22 overall, 1-14 GLIAC) with 10 kills,
while Chloe Balanda had nine and Nikki Stratelak eight.
LSSU's team attack percentage was its second-highest of the
season against GLIAC competition.
Anne Sutton led Ferris State with an impressive 17 kills, and
Megan Vander Meer followed with nine.
MaryLou Drobish totaled 20 assists for the Lakers, while Katie
Fitzpatrick had 12. Meghan Drobish led LSSU with digs with 19,
followed by Snyder with 12.
Samantha Fordyce totaled 45 assists for the Bulldogs.
LSSU plays its final home match at 2 p.m. Saturday against Grand
Valley State. The Lakers will pay tribute to Fitzpatrick,
Stratelak, MaryLou Drobish and Rochelle Donakowski prior to the
match.
