Box Score OXFORD, Ohio - Lake Superior State defeated No. 3 Miami Saturday
1-0 Saturday at the Steve Cady Arena and snapped the RedHawks'
eight-game unbeaten streak.
The Lakers completed their eighth split of the season. As of
release time, the Lakers (8-10-0 overall, 5-7-0-0 Central
Collegiate Hockey Association) moved into sixth place with
15-points.
Miami (10-3-3 overall, 7-3-2-2 CCHA) sits in first place in
the CCHA with 25 points.
Senior forward Domenic Monardo (6-7--13) scored the game-winning
goal for the Lakers at 8:07 of the first period. Junior defenseman
Zach Sternberg (2-8--10) and senior forward Nick McParland
(4-9--13) tallied the assists on Monardo's power-play goal.
It was Monardo's first game-winner of the season and sixth of
his career.
Junior netminder Kevin Murdock (6-6-0-0) recorded the win for
the Lakers, making a season-high 46 saves. Ryan McKay totaled
28 saves for the RedHawks.
Murdock's 1-0 shutout was his second career and first CCHA
shutout of the season.
The Lakers were 1-for-4 on the power-play, while Miami was
0-for-6. For the weekend, Miami was 0-for-10 on the power play,
while LSSU was 3-for-7.
