In 2026, Domenic Monardo was named to the inaugural class of the Laker Hockey Ring of Honor. Monardo's story stands out for his skill, courage, resilience, and dedication. He suffered a neck fracture at age 18, spending five months in a neck brace. He continued an incredible playing career that saw him lead LSSU in scoring twice, lead the team as Captain and Assistant Captain, and score the sixth-most game-winning goals in the country in 2011-12. The next year, Monardo was named team MVP. He then spent several seasons professionally in the AHL, ECHL, and Central European EBEL, winning the EBEL Championship in 2018 with HC Bolzano. The qualities that drove Domenic during his playing career at LSSU continue to inspire those around him and hold him up as one of the finest examples of Laker Hockey.

Senior (2012-13): Captained the Lakers during his senior season, scoring 20 goals with 11 assists in 39 games. Scored two goals three times - 1/19/13 in a 3-2 win against Michigan, 2/15/13 in a 5-1 win vs. Alaska and 2/22/13 in a 5-4 loss to Miami. A tremendous leader for LSSU. He finished his career with 153 games played, 49 goals and 52 assists for 101 points.
Junior (2011-12): Was named LSSU’s Most-Valuable Forward after leading the Lakers in assists and points... Also received the 2012 Terry Flanagan Memorial Award, which is given to the Central Collegiate Hockey Association Player who overcomes adversity and is active incommunity service... Tied for second in the CCHA and sixth nationally in game-winning goals with five (Michigan State 10/15, Bowling Green State 10/22, Canisius 11/20, Northern Michigan 12/10 and Alaska 2/10), plus tallied the game-tying goal against Ferris State (11/12)... Recorded seven multiple-point games, including 2-3--5 during a home split with NMU (12/9-10).
Sophomore (2010-11): Finished second on the team in goals scored and points... Tied for19th in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association in both categories... Opened the season with 3-3--6 during his first five games and enjoyed a four-game point streak (3-3--6) from Jan. 22 through Feb. 4.... Contributed three assists during five CCHA Playoff games... Was second on the team and tied for 13th in theCCHA in power-play points with 6-6--12... Recorded multiple-point games against Minnesota-Duluth (10/8), Northern Michigan (11/6), Ferris State (11/13) and Western Michigan (12/10 and 1/22)... Was acandidate for the CCHA’s Terry Flanagan Award and was named LSSU’s most-improved player for 2010-11... Scored twice in CCHA shootouts.
Freshman (2009-10): Wasnamed LSSU’s Outstanding Freshman after leading rookies in plus-minus at -1 and scoring five goals against Central Collegiate Hockey Association teams... His CCHA goal production ranked fourth on the team... Was named CCHA Rookie of the Week after compiling a goal (his first as a collegiate player) and four assists during a non-conference sweep of Canisius (10/16-17)... Received RBC Financial Group Rookie of the Month Special Mention for October... Scored the fifth-round shootout goal that gave LSSU a shootout win at Michigan State (1/9)... Also scored the only shootout goal during a 1-1 tie with Notre Dame (1/23)... Recorded his first career power-play goal and his first short-handed goal during a 10-4 loss at Miami (2/6).
Prior to LSSU: Led the Aurora Tigers in scoring during the 2008-09 regular season with 39 goals and 40 assists in 39 games and was the team's No. 2 scorer with 6-5--11 during 11 Ontario Junior Hockey League playoff games... Contributed a goal and an assist during the 2009 OJHL All-Star Game... Tied for 19th in OJHL regular-season points... The Tigers were 34-11 during the regular season and 5-5 in the playoffs.
Personal: Son of Andrea Monardo, the late Tony Monardo and stepdad Domenic Faga... Sister (Lauren) was on the row team at McMaster University... Majoring in Business Marketing.
