Box Score HOUGHTON - Michigan Tech defeated Lake Superior State 72-43
Saturday to cap off a three-game home win streak in women's
basketball and maintain a firm hold on second place in the Great
Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference North Division.
Lynn Giesler scored 14 points and Krista Kasuboski added 12 to
lead four players in double figures for MTU (16-5 overall, 11-4
GLIAC). The Huskies are two games behind first-place Ferris State
in the North Division standings, while the Lakers (9-14 overall,
5-11 GLIAC) are one game out of a tie for fourth place.
Maria Blazejewski scored 14 points, and Cassy Schemberger
totaled 11 points and six rebounds to lead the Lakers, who shot
27.1 percent from the field, including 3-of-15 from behind the arc.
LSSU was 14-of-20 at the free-throw line.
Michigan Tech, which led 36-17 at halftime, shot 45.8 percent
from the field, including 9-of-23 from three-point range, and made3
9-of-15 free throws. The Huskies held a 36-35 rebounding edge and
committed only nine turnovers to LSSU's 19.
LSSU plays host to Northwood at 1 p.m. on Feb. 18.
