Lake Superior State turnovers during the second half to overtake
LSSU and win Saturday's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference women's basketball game, 74-71.
Ferris State (10-5 overall, 9-3 GLIAC) trailed by as many as
nine points during the second half.
LSSU (5-11 overall, 4-8 GLIAC) totaled 21 turnovers for the
game, negating what was otherwise an outstanding performance. The
Lakers held the Bulldogs to 36.9 percent from the field and
out-rebounded FSU, 38-35.
Laker junior guard Raven Trammell was 6-of-12 from the field and
scored a career-high 26 points, and freshman guard Megan Manninen
added a season-high 10 points. Kandace Crittendon added 10 points.
Candice LaCross totaled a career-high 10 rebounds, and
Crittendon followed with nine.
LSSU was 13-of-21 from the field during the second half for 61.9
percent and shot 47.8 percent for the game. The Lakers made 9-of-19
three-point attempts and 18-of-22 free throws.
Kylie Muntz scored 27 points to lead four double-figure scorers
for Ferris State. The Bulldogs made 8-of-16 three-point shots and
18-of-27 free throws. FSU totaled only 10 turnovers.
LSSU led at halftime, 37-25.
Lake Superior State plays host to Northern Michigan on
Thursday.
