Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE - Jen Marren, Gaby Olsen and Chloe Balanda all
hit double figures in kills for the Lake Superior State volleyball
team, which swept Tiffin 25-20, 25-20, 25-21 to give Jen
Constantino her first coaching victory at LSSU.
The Lakers (1-11 overall, 1-7 Great Lakes Intercollegiate
Athletic Conference) reeled off four straight points to battle back
from a 14-10 deficit during the opening set. Back-to-back kills by
Balanda and Olsen gave LSSU a 20-18 lead later in the set, and
Sydne McMullen closed it out with another kill.
LSSU stormed to an 8-3 lead during the second set. Tiffin (6-7
overall, 1-7 GLIAC) closed within two points on two occasions, but
never got any closer. After Marren led the Lakers with seven kills
during the first set, Balanda came through with a team-high six
during the second set.
Set 3 was a back-and-forth battle that ended on a kill by
Marren, followed by a Tiffin attack error. Snyder led LSSU with six
kills during the final set.
For the match, Marren finished with 13 kills and a .314 attack
percentage, while Olsen had 11 kills and a .400 attack rate.
Balanda totaled 10 kills with her most impressive being a
straight-down hit for a 23-20 LSSU lead during the last set. Snyder
finished with nine kills.
LSSU totaled 50 team kills to Tiffin's 33. Olivia Cobb led the
Dragons with nine kills.
Janelle Nagy finished with 43 assists, and Meghan Drobish
totaled 16 digs. McMullen led in blocks with three block
assists.
LSSU plays host to Ohio Dominican at 1 p.m. Saturday.
