SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State defeated
Laurentian 9-2 Tuesday during exhibition play at the Taffy Abel
Arena.
Thirteen Lakers tallied at least a single point during their
win. Sophomore defenseman Eric Drapluk led the Lakers with one goal
and three assists. Sophomore forward Bryce Schmitt tallied two
goals, recording the game-winning goal at 11:37 of the first
period.
Pete Spratte, Ian Miller, Alex Globke and Chris Ciotti each adde
one goal and one assist for LSSU, which is ranked 12th and 13th in
this week's national polls. Dan Radke, Stephen Perfetto, Garret
Clemment, and Andrew Dommett chipped in two assists each.
Freshmen Nathan Harris and Gus Correale added one goal each for
the Lakers, while Mitchell Nardi tallied a single assist.
Both of Laurentian's goals came late in the third period from
Mathew Davis and Marc-Alain Begin.
Kevin Kapalka started in goal for LSSU, making six saves in
30:07. Kevin Murdock entered the game halfway through the second,
making six saves in 29:42. LSSU totaled 57 shots on goal.
Laurentian's Alex Laino made 48 saves in the contest.
The Lakers were 2-for-5 on the power-play and held Laurentian to
0-for-2.
LSSU plays at Wisconsin at 8 p.m. EST Friday and Saturday.
