KENOSHA, Wis. -The Lake Superior State women's basketball team lost its season opener at Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday, 66-48.

Kandace Crittendon totaled 11 points and three steals, and Laura VanEs added eight points and 11 rebounds to lead the Lakers.

Megan Manninen and Marie Gaedke scored seven points each.

Maddie Johnston scored 16 points, and Tara Knapstein added 15 to lead UW-P, which finished 21-10 last season and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament.

LSSU shot 25 percent from the field, including 3-of-26 from three-point range, and made 13-of-16 free throws.

The Rangers shot 39.7 percent from the field, including 7-of-15 from behind the arc, and made 13-of-16 free throws. They out-rebounded LSSU, 51-38.

UW-P led at halftime, 38-17.
