Box Score BIG RAPIDS - Ferris State held Lake Superior State to eight
first-half field goals to build a 38-21 lead and went on to beat
the Lakers 72-60 Saturday at Wink Arena.
Lake Superior State (5-18 overall, 4-15 Great Lakes
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) bounced back to shoot 52
percent (13-of-25) from the field during the second half. The
Lakers also got a career-high 13 points from junior center
Candice LaCross. Despite the bright spots, they couldn't get
any closer than 10 points after trailing the Bulldogs by as
many as 18.
Raven Trammell followed LaCross with 10 points, while Stephanie
Fisher and Alex Morrow came off the bench and added eight
each. For the game, LSSU shot 40.4 percent from the field,
including 5-of-13 from behind the arc, and made 13-of-21 free
throws.
Katie Mavis scored 19 points and Ashley Rando added 16 to lead
Ferris State (13-9 overall, 12-7 GLIAC). The Bulldogs shot 45.6
percent from the field, including 7-of-16 from three-point range,
and made 13-of-13 free throws. They out-rebounded the Lakers,
37-29.
LSSU plays at Northern Michigan at 7:30 p.m. on Feb. 21.
