Bulldogs pull off home win to salvage split with Lakers

Box Score

BIG RAPIDS - Ferris State relied on an impressive second half to come from behind and beat the Lake Superior State men's basketball team 63-54 Saturday. The Bulldogs salvaged a season split against the Lakers.

The Bulldogs (14-9 overall, 13-6 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference), who were 11-point losers to the Lakers in January, were 14-of-28 from the field during the second half after trailing 31-28 at halftime. Midway through the second half, they embarked on an 18-5 run to overcome a nine-point deficit and go ahead, 46-42.

Josh Fleming, who came off the bench to lead Ferris State with 20 points and five rebounds, made a layup after a LSSU offensive foul to give his team a 57-52 edge. When the Lakers were forced to foul, he slid inside for a dunk and a 61-54 FSU lead with 39 seconds to go.

Derek Kinney led Lake Superior State (12-11 overall, 9-10 GLIAC) with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Cameron Metz added 14 points and nine rebounds as the Lakers out-rebounded FSU, 41-30. Alex Williams followed with nine points and five rebounds.
