North Division women's basketball standings after beating Lake
Superior State 57-38 on Saturday.
Michigan Tech (18-7 overall, 16-5 GLIAC), playing one of its
best defensive games of the season, held LSSU to six field
goals in the first and second halves.
Maria Blazejewski was 8-of-8 at the free-throw line and led LSSU
(5-20 overall, 4-17 GLIAC) with 18 points and four rebounds.
Candice LaCross followed with seven points and three steals. The
Lakers shot 24.5 percent from the field, including 1-of-7 from
three-point range, and made 13-of-16 free throws.
Kylie Moxley led MTU with 13 points and four rebounds, and Sam
Hoyt followed with eight points and five rebounds. The Huskies shot
32.7 percent from the field, including 7-of-21 from behind the arc,
and made 14-of-21 free throws. The out-rebounded LSSU, 44-35.
MTU led 29-17 at halftime.
The Lakers close out their season with a home game at 3 p.m.
March 2 against Wayne State.
