Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE, Mich. - Lake Superior State was defeated
in the if-ncessary game 7-0 by Bowling Green Sunday at
the Taffy Abel Arena.
The Lakers finished their season 17-21-1 overall and 11-16-1-1
in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. Bowling Green
(15-19-5 overall, 10-15-3-1 CCHA) moved onto the Second Round of
CCHA Playoffs March 15-17.
The Falcons took a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period. Dan
DeSalvo tallied the game-winning goal at 1:58 of the first for the
Falcons. DeSalvo finished the game with two goals and one assist
against the Lakers.
At the halfway mark of the second period BGSU had a 4-0 lead
including a short-handed marker at 10:11. In the third Bowling
Green found the back of the net three times, notching power-play
and an empty-net goals.
The Lakers were 0-for-4 on the power play and held BGSU to
1-for-6.
Junior netminder Kevin Kapalka (7-9-1) suffered the loss
for LSSU making 26 saves. Andrew Hammond recorded the shutout with
23 saves for the Falcons.
