Box Score 2 MARQUETTE - Lake Superior State finished 0-4 at the
season-opening Superior Oasis Wildcat Classic after losing both
Saturday matches by 3-0 decisions.
Bemidji State (4-4) defeated LSSU in a close contest, 25-17,
26-24, 28-26. Host Northern Michigan (6-2) closed out the
tournament with a 25-14, 25-23, 25-18 victory over the Lakers.
Emily Snyder totaled 13 kills and Jen Marren followed with 12 to
lead the Lakers against BSU. Marren also turned in a solid .306
attack percentage. Setter Janelle Nagy totaled 36 assists, while
libero Meghan Drobish had 19 digs. Gaby Olsen led in blocks with
three.
Marren totald eight kills, and Olsen and Snyder added seven each
to lead LSSU against the Wildcats. Sydne McMullen finished with six
kills and a .417 attack percentage. Nagy contributed 28 assists,
and Nagy and Snyder led in digs with eight each. Chloe Balanda had
two blocks.
The Lakers begin Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
play on Sept. 20 at Michigan Tech.
Note: Nagy and Drobish were both named to the
Superior Oasis All-Tournament Team. Nagy averaged 10.08 assists per
set, while Drobish contributed 5.67 digs per set. The
all-tournament team also included Michigan Tech's Madeline Haben,
Northern Michigan's Lina Lopes and Kalli Herron, Bemidji State's
Jessica Yost, Quincy's Brittany Atkinson and Minnesota-Crookston's
Brittany Looker.
