Box Score

SAULT STE. MARIE - The Lake Superior State men's basketball team forced Northwood into a season-high 24 turnovers, but struggled with its three-point shooting touch at the other end of the court during Saturday's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game against Northwood.

The 17th-ranked Lakers' 10-game win streak ended with a 94-80 home loss to the Timberwolves (11-7 overall, 7-3 GLIAC).

LSSU (16-2 overall, 8-2 GLIAC) was one of the hottest three-point shooting teams in the nation at the beginning of the season. The Lakers averaged 10.5 three-point field goals per game during their first eight games. They were 6-of-29 (20.7 percent) against NU and shot only 26.3 percent from long range during their last four games.

Despite the setback, LSSU still has the GLIAC's best record heading into a four-game road stretch that begins Thursday at Grand Valley State.

Northwood was 6-of-13 from behind the arc during the first half and stormed to a 43-29 lead. LSSU closed the gap to eight points, 45-37, at 16:55 of the second half, but the Timberwolves stretched it back to 16. The Lakers, who out-scored Northwood 22-4 in points off turnovers during the second half, cut it to eight again (69-61) at 5:22, but gave up a dunk on the transition after a Jordan Dasqui three-pointer. NU again led by 16 with 2:50 remaing.

Five players scored in double figures for both teams. Dylan Langkabel led Northwood with 23 points, and Darvin Ham followed with 22. Wes Wilcox totaled 19 points and 11 rebounds.

NU shot a season-high 62.8 percent from the field, including 8-of-16 from three-point range, and made a season-high 32-of-33 free throws. The Timberwolves dominated the boards, 41-23.

Alex Williams and Derek Billing scored 18 points each to lead LSSU. Cameron Metz and Dasuqi scored 12 each, and Tony Harris added 10. Jake Blake and Devin Daly in the Lakers in rebounds with five each.

Metz, Billing, Daly, and Northwood's Will Bowles and Khalid King all fouled out.
