Box Score BIG RAPIDS - Lake Superior State junior Stephanie Fisher broke
Lake Superior State's single-game three-point field-goal record
with her 10-of-14 performance Saturday at Ferris State.
Fisher scored a career-high 34 points as the Lakers lost 74-71.
LSSU (4-14 overall, 4-8 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference) clawed its way back from a 25-point deficit.
Fisher, who was 9-of-11 from behind the arc during the second
half, broke the former single-game women's record of seven
three-pointers set by Hillary Bultema on Feb. 15, 2001. The LSSU
men's single-game record is eight and held by four different
players.
For the game, Fisher was 11-of-16 from the field and 2-of-2 at
the free-throw line. Raven Trammell was 4-of-8 from behind the arc
and finished with 19 points and seven assists. Alex Morrow and
Kandace Crittendon led the Lakers in rebounds with six each.
LSSU shot 43.1 percent from the field, including 15-of-30 from
three-point range, and made 12-of-16 free throws.
Sarah DeShone totaled 20 points and eight assists to lead Ferris
State (6-8 overall, 6-6 GLIAC). Kara Hess added 12 points. Hannah
Hoffman and April Watson combined for 15 rebounds as FSU
out-rebounded LSSU, 35-29.
LSSU was 8-of-26 from the field during the first half and
trailed 36-20 at halftime. The Lakers shot 56 percent from the
field during the second half.
Ferris State shot 45.9 percent from the field, including 4-of-9
from three-point range, and made 14-of-17 free throws.
The Lakers travel to Northern Michigan on Thursday, Jan. 30.
