Box Score SAULT STE. MARIE - Lake Superior State lost its first five-set
match of the season, falling to Malone Saturday, 25-17, 23-25,
25-20, 21-25, 15-7.
LSSU (2-14 overall, 1-10 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic
Conference) came from behind to win Set 4 and tie the match, 2-2,
but fell behind 8-2 early during the tie-breaker set and couldn't
recover. Malone improved to 8-10 overall and 6-5 in the GLIAC.
Jen
Marren totaled 15 kills and Sydne McMullen
12 to lead Laker hitters. Elizabeth
Ballor had 11 kills and a .455 attack percentage. Janelle Nagy
compiled a season-high 51 assists, and Meghan Drobish
and Brooklyn Gerber
combined to total 33 digs. Nagy also led LSSU in blocks with
three.
Haley Kool totaled 13 kills to lead a balanced Malone attack.
Shelbi Meek and Sarah Brent had 11 each.
LSSU competes in the GLIAC vs. GLVC Crossover Tournament next
weekend in Naperville, Ill.
